Happy 4th of July!

Our ward combined with Glenn Creek Ward for our 4th of July flag raising and pancake breakfast so we could mingle with all our old friends from before the ward split. As soon as Eleanor and Larissa were finished eating, they went looking for trouble together. First, they rearranged the ring toss that was set up for the kids (while kids were trying to toss rings-- hey, at least they'll have practice with moving targets!).

As soon as that was done, they moved on to find something else to get into. There were "oooos" and "awwws" wherever they went coming from the adults who loved to see these two little best friends.

And later on, after a nap and a quick trip to the store, we went to Grandma's house for a BBQ and a swim in the pool... The water was cold because they had just filled the pool that morning. Surprisingly, Eleanor didn't seem to mind the temperature. It must have been a relief from the heat of the day. She loved her new floaty we got her.

The only thing that changed her mind about the cold water was the kiddie pool. It was much warmer, and once she got in it, she wasn't as enthused about the big pool. She also liked the slide in the kiddie pool, but she wasn't very good about sitting down to slide down; she would stand at the top of the slide and then kind-of step into the water. This required me to be there to catch her on her crazy landings.
This was after she had visited the kiddie pool. She didn't want to be in her floaty because it was so cold, so someone had to hold her.

Just kidding. Everyone took a turn in the kiddie pool to warm up, and I had the whole pool to myself with no one splashing me!

Then it was time for some food...

The kids sure liked the watermelon!

After eating, Grandma and Grandpa brought out the Pop-its. I thought Eleanor might be scared of the Pop-its, but she loved them. She even managed to throw them hard enough to make them pop some of the time.


Caleb mostly sat back and watched the fray.
