Wordless Wednesday:
On a side note, I thought I'd share a few words about Wednesday (the post). I know, I can't do it; I can't possibly shut my mouth and not say anything. Oh well. I just didn't feel like writing yesterday, and I want to write down the explanation for those pictures before I forget. We were at Grant's parents' on Sunday, and they have that water spout in their yard from which dogs can take a drink. Eleanor watched as her cousins used it to fill up squirt guns, and the fascination began. A faucet she could work herself? She was in heaven!! She stood there for the longest time, running the water onto her hands, shouting, "Noree wash hands!" in her glee. Soon there had formed quite a puddle at her feet, which formed all the mud in the pictures. I resisted my urges to be picky about her clothes getting dirty (even though, as Dana pointed out, I had rushed to get the bib earlier when she ate some watermelon), and just let her enjoy playing. I admit that I do the best I can to keep her clothes in pristine condition to the extent that I seem to have a touch of the crazies, but I just want to keep them nice for the next child so we don't have to buy more! At least this instance is proof that I can contain myself (sometimes). Anyways, the puddle just gave her something else to do. She would look down and notice her dirty feet, try to lift one up to the water to wash it off, then slap it back down onto the ground (because balancing on one foot is hard), splashing mud onto the other foot. Rinse. repeat. Then her cousin Caleb came along, and he knows just what to do with mud puddles-- you stomp your feet in them, silly! So, Eleanor tried that out, too. Grant tried to get a picture of them standing in the mud together, but toddler attention spans were not on his side. Cake and ice cream came and went, and our little girl was still too occupied by the water to come beg for bites. Eventually, once everyone was finished, Eleanor wandered over to the table and started asking, "Cream? Cream?" So Grandpa got her a bowl of ice cream, and that's how she ended her fun Sunday. Actually, she ended it by riding home in Daddy's car in only a diaper! And that's the story for those pictures. Next time I do a wordless post, I'll leave it wordless. I promise.
Visit to the Doctor:
Yesterday was Eleanor's 2 year doctor check up. She weighs 19.4 pounds (grumble- I thought she had hit 20 by now!), putting her just below the 5th percentile for weight (same as 15 months). She's 32 inches long, which is just above the 10th percentile for height. And, her head, I can never remember. I think it was something like 45cm? Does that sound right? Oh well, it's just below the 5th percentile, too. This is all very much like her 15 month appt. She is our petite little girl. She has all the developmental milestones, and her growth is proportional, so no cause for concern. Her weight has gone down just slightly from the curve it was on. No surprise. She's done nursing (has been for quite a while), and she's not always the best eater. She loved the fishies in the waiting room, and she finally had a visit to the doctor's office that wasn't traumatizing-- not shots! She only needed one, so I decided to delay it until she goes in for her flu shots, since she'll be miserable that time anyway. Why spread it out, right?
Eleanor's Independant Streak:
Eleanor is insisting to be independant in many things lately, but I'm just going to give one example. While changing Eleanor's diaper these last few days, she has insisted that she be the one to hold her legs up. She gets mad if I even have one hand on her leg to steady her. So, I change her, tipsy as she is, and steady her by putting a hand on her hip every now and then (which is allowed).
Oh and. . .
Have I mentioned she's a broken record?

Our little ladies, aren't they cute? I love that her personality is really showing through. I feel for you on the repetitive stuff though. I hope you're not worn out at the end of the day. See you on Saturday!!!
