We woke up to snow yesterday morning. Eleanor ran in first thing in the morning and exclaimed, “Mommy, Daddy, it’s all snowed up outside!” Early church was cancelled because of the roads. And since snow only comes around here once in a blue moon, we bundled up our sick kids for some fun in the cold.
Curtis seemed to enjoy his first time out in the snow. Thank goodness I had hand-me-downs from a friend who used to live in Wisconsin! Curtis has two sleepers on under this. Reminds me of A Christmas Story, “I can’t move my arms! I can’t move my arms!” He looked like a little blue starfish, but I think he stayed warm the whole time.
We didn’t have quite enough snow for a big snowman. Grant helped the girls make some little ones on the back of his car, which is probably all they would have the attention span for anyway.
What is this girl doing with that mischief in her eyes?
And even though most of it stuck to her mitten . . .
she’s pretty pleased with herself.
Eleanor chased Phaedra around the yard before throwing a snowball at her. I love how she’s only 3 feet away from her, but she wants to get closer before she will throw it.
This is when Phaedra decided she didn’t want her mittens anymore.
And after she complained about her cold hands and begged me to warm them up, I told her to put them in her pockets. She tromped around like this, pouting and turning away every time I tried to grab a photo.
Then Phae was too cold and wanted to go inside. She didn’t last very long, especially after taking off her mittens. We let Eleanor play in the back yard for another 10 minutes while we took Phae inside to get warm. Of course, once she got inside and warmed up, she saw her sister out back and wanted to go outside again.
