Curtis has a New Talent

120215_0005He has found his toes.120215_0006120215_0007He started grabbing his feet last week, and this week, he has been working on putting them in his mouth. He finds it very entertaining.

I’m feeling really guilty that I haven’t recorded Curtis’ milestones very well. I just can’t keep up! At his 2 month doctor appointment, he weighed 11lbs, 12oz (about 25th percentile), and at his 4 month appointment, he weighed 13lbs, 15oz. (about 5th percentile). This is totally typical for one of my kids. He is a sweet little boy with plenty of smiles to share.

At the doctor’s office this time, I filled out a questionnaire about his milestones. One question was whether or not my baby laughs without being tickled. I had to answer no. Then I saw an option for “child refuses to try,” and marked that one. He just isn’t a very giggly boy. I can get a laugh out of him once in a while if I really work for it, tickling him. When he doesn’t laugh, he usually just lets out a happy grunt or squeal. But he makes happy sounds without being tickled. I’m not worried about him; I’m just amazed at the differences in personality kids can have.

120215_0008120215_0009120215_0010Eleanor sat and read a book to Curtis today while I was putting Phaedra down for a nap. When I got back, they were both so content that I went and put some laundry away in my room. They sat together like this for a good 20 minutes. Then I got back from doing laundry and let Curtis play on the floor while Eleanor finished reading her book.

She read Mouse Tales by Arnold Lobel, and I only had to help her with a few words. She is doing so well with her reading. She has passed off all her “heart words” at school, and has passed off three lists of sight words. All she has left are the 2nd and 3rd grade sight words. I am confident that the next time they test her on it, she will at least pass off one more list if not both.

I’m trying to blog more, really, I am. I wish I had more time –and energy!
