The Pattern Continues (Explanation)

Sorry if I lost you on that one. I had a toddler pawing at me, and I thought I had made it pretty clear. Looking at it now, I can see why there would be some confusion. I'll try to make it make sense. If not, just remember this did come from my head, which should explain everything.

The theory is that the Matthews family (the original 5 boys) is copying the Wallace (my) family (the original 5) as far as the gender of their children and in what order those genders come about. And it's even corresponding according to birth order of the 5 siblings. I would say that the Wallaces are copying the Matthews if it weren't for the fact the the Wallace's seem to have a head start in the multiplying and replenishing department. Okay, see if you can follow me:

Oldest child: James W. (W. stands for Wallace, M. stands for Matthews) has 4 boys. Ben M., also the oldest, has 3 boys and recently found out his fourth will also be a boy. So, the oldest member of the Matthews boys copied the oldest member of the Wallace family by having 4 boys.

Second child: Matt W. His oldest is a boy, and then he had a girl, followed by 2 more boys. Stuart M. has started his family off with a boy and then a girl. For the pattern to continue, his next child (and the next, though I'm not going to weigh in on number of children for any of these families) would be a boy.

Third child: Beth W. had a girl and then a boy, with one boy on the way. Grant is the third child in the Matthews family, and started his family off with a girl. Again, for the pattern to continue, we would have to have boys next.

Fourth child: We veer off course here because my Mike hasn't had kids yet, so we default that he would have to copy Grant's Michael and have a boy and then a girl.

Fifth child: Now try not to go cross-eyed. I am the fifth Wallace child, so Alex, being the fifth child would have to copy me and start with a girl (years from now). But my family would be copying Beth's because of Grant copying her, so there would essentially be three girl, boy, boy families.

So, really, there is a lot of room for error. But so far, the pattern goes unbroken. I just think it will be fun to see how long we stay aligned. I actually thought Ben and Cindy's pregnancy could have been the end of it, and they would actually get a girl. Apparently there are "no wussy genes" in that family.

There. Get it? Asleep? Thinking I'm crazy? Probably.

  2. is that what ben matthews calls x chromosomes? "wussy"?... should we have a fighting pit at the next reunion to test this theory?
