One Last Walk on the Beach

I think I've mentioned I took way too many pictures at the beach. We went for one last walk on Sunday before we had to pack things up and go home. Eleanor was wearing a sweater, but she kept saying she was cold. So Grant came up with his own little warming system for her. She was quite content.
I'm standing in front of "the point." We always seem to walk north from the beach house to visit the point. When the tide is really low, you can make your way over the rocks and go around the point to search for agates. I haven't done that in quite a while; I wouldn't want to try to take Eleanor over those rocks. I still can't get the image out of my head of Dad falling down trying to make it over the rocks. He didn't get hurt at all, but his camera fell and made a smack against the rocks. I thought the crack sound was probably his back, and at the time, I was probably about 6 months pregnant with Eleanor and worried I would have to try to carry him back. THAT wasn't good for my heart.

Eleanor was much more content once we were down at the point since we were out of the wind.

She checked out the barnacles on the rock.

Then she decided to check out the sand and found herself a scooping apparatus. After that, she was happy as a clam (pun intended). I think it's safe to say that Eleanor now enjoys the beach. She just took a little warming up to get to that point. Once we got her in a warm spot and let her scoop some sand, she didn't ever want to leave.

See, Mother? I told you I would eventually let her get down on the beach and cover herself with sand. It didn't bother me one bit! But she didn't get any in her mouth. If she had, I would have cringed the whole time!

We decided to head back. It was a long walk with Eleanor stopping every few feet to scoop some sand.

Goodbye for now, ocean beaches. Thanks for the memories.

  1. I love the last picture of you and Eleanor walking together! It's really too bad that it's always so windy and cold at the beach!
