Grant and I went to the temple last night. I know it's going to be difficult to go for a while once the baby is born, so this was our last chance. It was so peaceful. I love going to the temple.
When we finished our session, I met Grant in the lobby. He asked me to take a walk with him, and he took me down some stairs in the temple. At first, I thought we were headed to the cafeteria 'cause he was still hungry after the sandwiches we had eaten on the way in the car. We passed the cafeteria and headed down another hall. As we turned the corner, I looked down the hall to see a bunch of familiar faces. We were outside the area where they do baptisms for the dead, and waiting to go in was a large group from our old ward, with my father-in-law at the end of the line. They were all there for a youth temple trip, and Grant had run into his dad and bunch of the others in the changing room. What a sweet surprise! I can't believe how happy I was just to see their faces again after only a couple months. I wanted to hug each and every one of them. It was such a sweet reunion. We got to catch up in hushed voices, and they all wished us well with the coming baby and the deal on the house. I was left with such a happy feeling as we left the temple, that even now, it warms my heart to think of it.
I really was able to feel at home in that ward. There are so many good people there that we will miss. I'm sure the ward will change greatly, but I think as long as there are a few familiar faces there, I will always feel like I'm coming home when we visit. I am so grateful for the time we were able to spend there, getting to know such a wonderful group of people. I am so grateful for the gospel and how it brings people together under a united cause. I am so grateful for kind people who open their hearts and arms in fellowship to each new family that comes along. I hope we can keep in touch with the many friends we have made there. Maybe we'll have to crash some of their ward activities from time to time.
I look forward to making friendships with the people we will meet in our new ward, too.
I just want to take a moment to acknowledge the Lord's hand in our lives. I'm afraid I have blogged so much about the stresses I've been going through that maybe people think I only focus on my troubles. I just want you all to know that this is not the case. We have been so blessed, time and time again, through all of this process of change. Sometimes, I have wondered if we even deserved to have so many things fall into place. I would list the many ways I feel blessed, but those type of things are more personal to me than I like to display on my blog. But to not acknowledge our blessings would feel ungrateful. We have really been taken care of by our Heavenly Father and by kind people willing to serve him by helping us. Thank you.
